PURPOSE
West Texas Cowboy Church is a body of baptized believers voluntarily associated and prayerfully committed to promoting the movement of God's Spirit within the Western Heritage Culture through worship, evangelism, discipleship, ministry, and fellowship.
MISSION STATEMENT
The Mission of West Texas Cowboy Church will be fulfilled in sharing the love of God with the unchurched and lost people of West Texas and the Permian Basin in such a way that they have the best opportunity to become fully developing followers of Christ who worship God, live by God's Word, are growing in their knowledge of God and His ways and who want to share God with others.
WHAT WE BELIEVE
- The Bible is the inspired, preserved, infallible Word of God. It is the sole authority for all we say and do.
- There is only one true and living God. He has revealed Himself to mankind through His Word as God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
- Jesus Christ is the virgin born Son of God. He lived a sinless life and died on the cross for our sins. He was buried and rose on the third day. He now sits at the right hand of God the Father and intercedes for us. One day He will return for His own.
- When a person realizes they are a sinner and Jesus is the Savior, they must confess their sins to God. They must turn from their sins and turn to God. They must accept Jesus and believe that His blood was shed as a sacrifice for the redemption of their sins. They must receive forgiveness and the gift of eternal life. At that time they are adopted into the family of God, indwelt and sealed by the Holy Spirit.
- The Holy Spirit is active in the world today. He convicts of sin, calls people into the ministry, empowers the work of the church and enables Christians to live a life acceptable to God.
- Everyone will stand before God and be held accountable - those who accept Jesus and serve God at the resurrection of life, and those who reject Jesus at the resurrection of damnation. (John 28-29)
- It is important to follow the commands and examples set forth in the Word of God. Therefore, we hold the practices of water baptism by immersion and the Lord's Supper to be the ordinances of the church. Neither of these ordinances is necessary for salvation, but they do have great significance and are very meaningful when observed properly. They are symbolic and are examples of our living faith in Jesus Christ and commanded by Him.
